a Wandering Mom

Hi, my name is Jenny. I'm a mom who has recently made peace with being an empty nester and is looking for what the next chapter of my life will bring.

I'm looking forward to this next era of my life, hoping it will include adventure, travel, meeting interesting people, and having fun along the way.

It reminds me of the awkward teenage years when I was trying to figure out the world and who I was within it.

Now, rather than fixating on finding an answer, I want to learn to live with the question, to be flexible, and accept life as it is.

If you can relate, I hope you will join me on this exciting journey!

Recovering from two foot surgeries, I've only recently been able to walk in a regular tennis shoe, rather than a clumsy heavy walking boot. Part of my physical therapy was to take a daily walk, being mindful of each step as I rolled from my heel to toe. So naturally my pace was quite slow.

Why a Wandering Mom?

At first, it felt awkward. It looked like I was lost, not sure of my destination.  Now, even though my pace is faster, I try to remind myself to slow down, to notice the small things I never noticed at my hurried pace,  like the sound of birds calling to each other or squirrels flitting their tails and darting from tree to tree.

I'm also giving myself permission to wander mentally. I'm allowing myself to be less task-oriented, have more unstructured time, and release expectations of what I "should" be doing .
